Mckenna Grace: A Gift to Animals
Actor Mckenna Grace is a role model for people of all ages. She’s already done so much to help animals! ♥
First, she stole our hearts as the lovable Young Emma in Once Upon a Time. Now, she’s become the ultimate inspiration, speaking up for animals and showing how others can stick up for them, too. Simply put, she’s our hero!
In a video for PETA Kids, Mckenna revealed her tough side when she showed what dogs go through when they’re left inside a car on a hot summer day, even with the windows slightly open: They experience panic and suffer from the agonizing symptoms of heatstroke—including extreme thirst, tiredness, clumsiness, and a fast heartbeat. Now, thanks to Mckenna, kids everywhere know that they need to be brave and say something if they see a dog inside a hot car.
That isn’t the only animal rights issue that she’s passionate about, though. She and her bestie, August Maturo, hung out with rescued animals at a farm sanctuary and explained in a heartwarming video that people can help animals by not eating them. Check it out:
“Animals are very sweet, and I don’t think that they deserve to be tortured.” – Mckenna Grace
Feeling inspired? You can be a hero for animals, too!
Mckenna is a force to be reckoned with—but your voice is important, too. There are so many awesome things that you can do to speak up for animals. Here are a few ways that you can help them:
- Help dogs in hot cars. On a 78-degree day, the temperature inside a car can reach 120 degrees in minutes—and on a 90-degree day, the inside of a car can reach 160 degrees in less than 10 minutes. Animals can suffer and die from heatstroke in just 15 minutes, so never leave an animal in a car and help spread the word!
- Share PETA Kid’s guide to going vegan. Help show your friends and family members how fun and easy it is to go vegan.
- Pledge to go vegan! Be a hero like Mckenna and start saving more than 100 animals a year just by leaving them off your plate.
