Vegan Carrot, Date, and Oatmeal Treats
1 1/2 cups gluten-free all-purpose flour
1/2 cup instant unsweetened oatmeal
2 tsp. baking powder
1 cup grated raw carrots
2 Tbsp. finely chopped pitted dates
1/2 cup unsalted, unsweetened peanut butter
1/2 cup water
- Preheat the oven to 325°F.
- In a large bowl, mix together the flour, oatmeal, and baking powder.
- In a separate bowl, mix together the carrots, dates, peanut butter, and water.
- Add the peanut butter mixture to the flour mixture and combine to form a dough.
- Roll out on a lightly floured surface to about 1/4-inch thickness.
- Use a knife or cookie cutter to cut out the treats.
- Place 1/2 inch apart on parchment paper–lined cookie sheets.
- Bake for 14 to 16 minutes.
- Let cool for 30 minutes then let your dog try them!
- Store in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks.
Makes about 40 treats
Vegan Peanut Butter–Pumpkin Dog Treats
2 cups whole wheat flour
1/2 tsp. baking powder
1 1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 cup pumpkin purée (just pumpkin, not pie filling)
1/4 cup unsalted, unsweetened peanut butter
1/4 cup water
- Preheat the oven to 350ºF.
- In a large bowl, mix together the flour, baking powder, and cinnamon.
- Mix in the pumpkin and peanut butter and then slowly add the water to form a dough. (If it’s too sticky, add a bit more flour. If it’s too dry, add a small amount of water.)
- Roll out on a lightly floured surface to about 1/4-inch thickness.
- Use a knife or cookie cutter to cut out the treats.
- Place 1/2 inch apart on parchment paper–lined cookie sheets.
- Bake for 20 minutes.
- Let cool for 30 minutes then let your dog sample them!
- Store in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks.
Makes about 25 treats
