6-Year-Old Challenges Her Family to Go Vegan for a Month
Zahara is 6 years old and lives with her family in Virginia. They love to draw together and play outside games, like rugby.
One day, Zahara, whose favorite animal is the zebra, watched a documentary called What the Health, which is about going vegan. This made her think about becoming vegan herself. She said, “I want to be healthy and live forever.”
She challenged her family to go vegan with her for a month. Her mom was really supportive of this idea! Zahara discovered that she loves to help out with new recipes. They started eating more fruits and veggies (especially in smoothies!). Zahara’s favorite foods are carrots, asparagus, roasted cauliflower, and blackberries. Yum!
But her quest to help animals didn’t stop at just changing the way her family eats—she even started buying cruelty-free toothpaste. When asked about her advice for other kids who want to be vegan, she said:
“There is lots of vegan stuff. You just have to look at the bag or package and check. … Watch a movie called What the Health and then you will learn. Also, it can be easier to be vegan if you tell your friends at school and they try, too.”
We love that advice! It’s so much fun to do with a friend or your entire family! Who are YOU going to ask to go vegan with you?
